The NoBARC DX Challenge
Introduction
The NoBARC DX Challenge is designed to reward year-round DX activity by our members. Credit is given for contacts on all ham bands (160-6 meters) including those not normally used for contesting (60, 30, 17 & 12 meters). The NoBARC DX Challenge does not allow contacts made via internet-assisted modes such as D-STAR, DMR, YSF, Echolink, All-Star or other variants.
RULES
Eligibility
Licensed radio amateurs who are members of the Northern Berkshire Amateur Radio Club are eligible to enter. No member who has worked more than 300 countries will be eligible to enter.
Activity period
The NoBARC DX Challenge is a yearlong activity, beginning each year at 00:00 UTC November 1 and ending at 23:59 UTC October 31. A list of countries/entities worked must be submitted to the Board no later than 15 November.
Frequencies
Radio frequencies in the 160-meter to 6-meter bands are eligible including the 60m band and all WARC bands (30, 17 & 12 meters). All contacts must be made entirely over amateur radio frequencies without the use of repeaters or relays. Echolink, digital repeaters like DMR, All-Star, etc. will not be counted as legitimate contacts.
Modes
Any modes for which the operator is licensed may be used.
General
Each participant in the DX Challenge program may submit one entry each year.
The use of spotting networks is allowed.
The use of multiple station locations is allowed.
The use of remote stations owned by the operator is allowed. (The intent of this provision is to provide a level playing field among station capabilities and to encourage members to improve their ability to effectively communicate worldwide.) Scoring
Scoring is very simple: you score one point the first time you work in a new country/entity each calendar year. Each country counts only once. Example: If in the year you work 238 countries your score is 238.
Submissions
Participants must submit a list of stations worked for credit using the provided Excel spreadsheet. Submissions must be emailed no later than 2400 UTC on 15 November of each year.
Awards
A plaque will be awarded to the NoBARC member having the highest total number of countries worked during the 12-month Challenge period. The CQ DX Countries List constitutes the official list and is available on the DX Marathon website.
In the case of ties, the participant whose last scoring contact was earlier will be judged the winner. Any disputes will be decided by the Board of Directors by majority vote of a quorum, and such decision shall be final.
In it’s sole discretion, the Board may vote to award additional plaques for additional categories if the number of entrants makes such awards reasonable.
